There are many things that each NFL team should do including the Green Bay Packers before the start of training camp next month. Some competitions are more clear after OTAs and mandatory minicamps, but a lot of the dust still has to be settled during training camp and preseason.
The Green Bay Packers will be one of the youngest teams once again in the NFL this season. Head coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst will need to decide who the best 53 players are for the roster when Week 1 comes.

There are still some quality free agents out on the open for the market for the Green Bay Packers to sign. They made some key acquisitions on the free agent market this offseason by signing running back Josh Jacobs and safety Xavier McKinney. It is very rare for Green Bay to make moves on the free agent market.
Bleacher Report Matt Holder Suggests That the Green Bay Packers Sign a Backup Quarterback

Bleacher Report writer Matt Holder suggests that the Green Bay Packers should sign a veteran backup quarterback to the roster before training camp begins. They already have rookie quarterback Michael Pratt and Sean Clifford competing to be Jordan Love’s backup.
Holder said:
“Green Bay’s current second-string options under center are 2023 fifth-round pick Sean Clifford and 2024 seventh-rounder Michael Pratt. So, it has little experience behind Love, which could be a big problem if the starter goes down. Investing in a veteran insurance policy would be a smart move.”
Would it be a smart move for them or would it be just smart for the Green Bay Packers to let the other two quarterbacks they have on the roster compete to be Jordan Love’s backup?
Signing Ryan Tannehill Could Be An Option But They Will Only Keep Two Quarterbacks On the Roster

Ryan Tannehill will turn 36 on July 27. He is still a free agent and has not signed with anyone. Tannehill last played with the Tennessee Titans, but he has struggled to stay healthy. In 10 games played last season with Tennessee, he completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,616 yards, four touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
Tannehill also rushed for 74 yards on 17 carries and one touchdown, along with averaging 4.4 yards per carry. It appears as if his best days are behind him.
The Green Bay Packers could decide to bring him in if they wanted to, but it would be silly to take reps away from Sean Clifford and Michaell Pratt. Green Bay is more than likely to only keep two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster anyway.
Michael Pratt is 22 years old and he has a lot of potential. Michael Pratt could very well beat out Sean Clifford for the job. In theory, it would sound better for the Green Bay Packers to maybe bring in Ryan Tannehill as the backup quarterback for the 2024 season, but it would be silly for them to have a roster spot for a 36-year-old veteran rather than a 22-year-old rookie who has way more promise.
