One week from today, the Milwaukee Bucks will get to decide who they will be choosing with the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Milwaukee should keep the pick, but it will be interesting to see if general manager Jon Horst decides to trade the pick.
The Bucks need to get younger on the roster because they are getting older. Some people think this could be a very weak draft class, but time will tell how this year’s draft class will develop over time.
The main goal for the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason is to make the roster younger around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Milwaukee should be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference again next season.
Bleacher Report’s Latest NBA Mock Draft Has the Milwaukee Bucks Selecting Forward Jaylon Tyson From the California Golden Bears With the 23rd Overall Pick
Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report on Wednesday came out with the latest NBA Mock Draft before it begins next week. He has the Bucks selecting forward Jaylon Tyson from the California Golden Bears with the 23rd pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Jaylon Tyson is 21 years old and completed his junior season with California. He is 6’6″ and weighs 218 lbs. Wasserman said about the Milwaukee Bucks making this selection:
“Jaylon Tyson is top 20 on some team boards. He figures to get looks from teams starting in the mid-to-late first round after a breakout season averaging 19.6 points and 3.5 assists.
A 30.1 percent usage on a 13-19 California team does cast a cloud over his statistical production. But the eye test clearly shows a scorer with NBA traits and skills, including 6’6″ size, ball-handling for creation/playmaking and tough shotmaking.”
Bleacher Report has his pro comparisons to Caleb Martin. Jaylon Tyson played in 31 games last season for California. Along with his 19.6 PPG and 3.5 APG, he also averaged 6.8 RPG, 0.5 BPG, and 1.2 SPG. Tyson also shot 46.5% from the field, 36.0% from three-point land, and 79.6% from the free-throw line.
Jaylon Tyson could develop into a potential Khris Middleton replacement for the Milwaukee Bucks. Tyson would not have to start right away for Milwaukee, but they do have to get better bench production next season outside of Bobby Portis Jr. Jaylon Tyson has been climbing up draft boards over the past few weeks. If he is still around, let’s see if general manager Jon Horst decides to take a swing on him.
