The Green Bay Packers are in a position to compete for a playoff spot this year. That is something that many Packers fans didn’t think would even be a possibility a month ago. Now, after two straight wins the team is one spot away from a Wild Card berth.
Back to back wins against the Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions have put a ton of confidence back into the locker room. However, that confidence may have taken a bit of a hit today as the team learned they may be without a starter for the rest of the year.
The Green Bay Packers May Have Lost Tight End Luke Musgrave For The Remainder Of The Season
According to CBS Sports:
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that he doesn’t know if Musgrave (abdomen) will be able to play again this season, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Musgrave isn’t eligible to return from injured reserve until Week 16, but he appears to be at risk of missing the final seven contests of his rookie season due to a lacerated kidney.
While Josiah Deguara (hip) and Musgrave were out for the Packers’ Week 12 win over the Lions, rookie Tucker Kraft started at tight end and played 96 percent of the offensive snaps while finishing with two catches for 15 yards and one touchdown. Kraft should be in line for an expanded role moving forward.
The Packers Have Confidence in Tucker Kraft
Kraft caught two passes for 15 yards receiving and a touchdown in their Thanksgiving game agasint the Detroit Lions. Tucker Kraft will be starting for the foreseeable future in Green Bay and maybe longer, depending on how long Musgrave is out.
After scoring his first career touchdown for the Green Bay Packers, Tucker Kraft told the media:
“I was very excited. As soon as the play was over, though, I was getting back to three-point stance, blocking gap scheme [for the extra point]. Next-play mentality, take care of business, one snap at a time. That’s kind of my mentality moving forward is just play in the present, don’t wait on the next play, don’t worry about the past play, be where my feet are.”
