The Green Bay Packers have fallen to 2-4 after an embarrassing 19-17 loss on the road to the Denver Broncos. Once again, the Packers offense came out looking disjointed and the play-calling to start the game was atrocious. As a result, Green Bay found themselves shutout in the first half for the second time in four games. In those four games, they have been outscored 63-6.

Now, it is easy to blame the young inexperienced offense for this lack of scoring, but what it comes down to is coaching. Matt LaFleur simply is not doing a good job of game planning and preparing his team to play from the instant the clock starts to tick in the first quarter.

For this reason, many Packers fans have decided that, in their minds, Coach LaFleur is on the hotseat.

Green Bay Packers Fans Go Off on Head Coach Matt LaFleur

During the game, it was apparent who was responsible for the stalled offense in the first quarter: LaFleur. After the game, LaFleur admitted that he was the one who called the deep throw on third and 20 in the fourth quarter that got intercepted. Does that make Love’s throw any less terrible? No. But it proves the point that Love’s head coach is not putting him in a position to succeed.

And, for perhaps the first time this season, many Packers fans realized it:

Either the Packers don’t trust Jordan Love to throw more than 5 yards down the field (which is a problem) or Matt LaFleur genuinely thinks these dumpy little passes are going to kickstart the offense after watching his team the last several weeks (which is also a problem)

Brian Gutekunst created one of the most inexperienced offenses in recent memory and Matt LaFleur has found exactly zero ways to make them consistently competitive

At this point, we are asking the wrong questions. Barry is doing the wrong thing because he is incompetent. It’s really that simple. You almost can’t blame the poor guy, he’s in way over his head.

Why is Matt LaFleur okay with endorsing incompetence? That’s the real question. https://t.co/NIVH68BvvX

Jordan Love has been fine and for the most part the defense has been soild.

If you are gonna complain about something, complain about the blocking and Matt LaFleur’s atrocious play calls

    — Big B (@bigpackers4x) October 22, 2023

They had 2 weeks to prepare this bullshit. Fire LaFleur, Barry, and Stenavich. This is garbage. @packers 🤨

Matt Lafleur keeps talking about being stuck in 3rd and long situations…

His 1st down play calling is a huge reason they’ve been in those situations.

After the game, LaFleur said (once again): “Obviously, I have to do a better job of putting our players in a position to succeed.”

Respectfully, it’s been four games! It’s been six weeks on the calendar! It seems as if LaFleur is simply just talking about doing things differently and then going back to practice and preparing the same way he did before.

As mentioned, the offense has been frustrating. Love has made mistakes. The offensive line is a shell of what it once was. The pass catchers are learning on the fly.

But a good head coach would take what he has and figure out a way to get into the end zone at least once in the first half in those four games.

Is LaFleur on the hot seat with the Packers organization? Absolutely not. 47 wins in four years buys one a bit of a long leash. But perhaps the front office should add LaFleur to their list of personnel they are evaluating this year to see if there is any progress made, and if there is a long-term future with the team.
