The Green Bay Packers are doing their homework when it comes to their defense this off-season. After a down 2022 season (when expectations were high) they are looking to bounce back this year.
There was a lot of talk about aggressiveness last season, but the Packers’ defense could not deliver on its promises. After finishing in the top-10 in Joe Barry’s first season as defensive coordinator, the Packers fell to 17th last year.
The defense would have ranked even lower if they hadn’t enjoyed a four-game winning streak from Weeks 13-17. In that time frame, only six teams allowed fewer points than the Packers. Barry’s job might have been saved by it. Now the Packers are still bringing in players.
Green Bay Packers Bring In Former Minnesota Vikings Cornerback Kalon Barnes
According to NFL Reporter Aaron Wilson, the Packers worked out corner back Kalon Barnes. His NFL draft profile is as follows:
Cornerback with the traits worthy of consideration for a late-round pick. Barnes has legitimate track speed but his play can be too reliant upon that aspect of his game. He’s a better athlete than cover man, often losing track of his coverage duties.He’s athletic and has no excuses for not playing with better technique. Barnes’ length and ball skills could have a team willing to plug him into a practice squad slot to see if there is more consistent football ahead for him.
