The Green Bay Packers may have done it again. The really might have found the next big thing at the quarterback position. Obviously, Jordan Love has a long way to go before he can join the echelon of great Packers Hall of Fame quarterbacks. However, it is not a stretch to say that Love is having arguably the best first season as a starting quarterback in franchise history.
Not only does Love have the Packers on the path to the NFL Playoffs in his first year starting, he has stats that are comparable to Aaron Rodgers‘ in 2008 when he took over the starting job from Brett Favre. Consider both their stats through 12 games:
Quarterback | Aaron Rodgers (2008) | Jordan Love (2023) |
Completion % | 63.6% | 61.3% |
Passing Yards | 2,897 | 2,866 |
Touchdowns | 20 | 22 |
Interceptions | 10 | 10 |
Passer Rating | 91.7 | 90.2 |
Record | 5-7 | 6-6 |
As a reminder, Rodgers’ 2008 Packers team went 6-10.
Not only is Love putting together a good season in his first year as the starter, he also has done something that no other quarterback in NFL history has been able to accomplish.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Has Had a 3 Game Stretch Like None Other (Literally)
The Packers have won four of their past five games and are winners of three in a row. Over that span, Love has been on another level with his play. As seen above, his numbers rival those of Rodgers during his first year. However, Rodgers, nor any other quarterback at any point in their career in NFL history has had numbers like these:
Last 3 starts for the @packers‘ Jordan Love:
3-0 record
65.0+ comp pct on 100+ attempts
8+ TD passes with 0 turnovers
115.0+ passer rating
40+ rushing yards
no more than 5 sacks takenNo other QB in NFL history has done all that over a 3-start span. pic.twitter.com/NKBbyaYoen

If credit is going to be given where it is due, a great deal of it should go to Love himself for his good decision making and stellar play. However, these numbers are also indicative of the improvements his wide receivers have made.
Furthermore, the Green Bay offensive line has done a great job overall of keeping Love clean and giving him time to throw.
The Green Bay Packers and Jordan Love Are Succeeding Through Adversity
What is amazing about these numbers is that the Packers’ offense has been dealing with a plethora of injuries. Last night, they defeated the defending Super Bowl Champions without their starting running back, tight end, and left tackle. In addition, their wide receiver one, Christian Watson, left the game early with an injury.
Green Bay’s ability to win games in the last month is a testament to how good the young players, the future of this team, can be. As the season has progressed, Love and his rookie wide receivers and other playmakers have continued to grow and improve.
If they can get everyone healthy come the end of the season, and if they can continue to win games, this could be a very dangerous team to face in the NFL Playoffs.
