During a recent appearance on the Rich Eisen Show, former NFL star quarterback and Hall of Famer Steve Young said that be things Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has the makings of an elite signal-caller in the NFL. He even said that he envisions Love to one day reach the same QB tier as the likes of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, Baltimore Ravens two-way QB Lamar Jackson, and Cincinnati Bengals gunslinger Joe Burrow (h/t USA Today Sports).
“If you watched him in that game, he’s one of those guys that looks like is going to join Josh and Patrick and now Lamar and Joe. When I watch him drop back, and he’s just big and strong and tall and athletic, and he gets the ball and looks over everything, starts throwing the ball all over the field,” Young said. “Even early in the game, even though he’s young…I felt like he’s going to be one of those guys. There’s only a handful, every year that are going to be in the Super Bowl or in the thick of it because you have one of those guys. Feels to me like he’s going to be one of those guys. He had a tough learning experience, but no question, it was a revelation to see the Jordan Love show and what it’s going to look like into the future.”
Jordan Love Gained a Legion of Believers After Admirable 2023 NFL Season Performance For the Green Bay Packers
It’s easy to feel bullish on Jordan Love right now. His 2023 NFL season proved that he deserves to be a long-time quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, who parted ways with Aaron Rodgers before the campaign.
In his first year as the Packers’ regular starter under center, Love passed for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns with 11 interceptions on a 64.2 percent completion rate. There are ways to go before he can be categorized together with Mahomes and Jackson but the promise is certainly there for the former first-round pick.
