Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed has emerged as one of the team’s most dynamic and important players. A second round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Reed has outperformed most of the wide receivers drafted before him. His 48 receptions this season have him just seven shy of tying Sterling Sharpe’s franchise record for catches by a rookie.
In addition to Reed’s receiving abilities, he has also proved to be a valuable contributor to the run game. While head coach Matt LaFleur and quarterback Jordan Love called jet sweeps to Reed too much on Monday night against the Giants, it does not take away from the fact that defenses still need to respect Reed as a runner.
Unfortunately for the Packers, Reed injured his head on one of the failed jet sweeps late in the game. With Dontayvion Wicks suffering a high ankle sprain and Christian Watson dealing with a hamstring injury, losing Reed would leave a weakened wide receiver room even more short-handed. Ever since Reed’s injury occurred, a concussion has been the main fear.
The Packers did not practice on Wednesday, but they did release an estimated injury report per the NFL rules. Reed was listed on the report, but not with a concussion.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Is Dealing with an Ankle Injury
Matt Schneidman of The Athletic posted the NFL injury report for both the Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Green Bay had seven new injuries/players added to the report after Monday night’s game against the New York Giants.

As can be seen on the report, Reed was estimated to be limited in practice due to an ankle injury. With the NFL’s new rules about concussion testing and reporting, the Packers would have already made it public if Reed was dealing with a head injury.
In other words, the good news is that Reed did not suffer a concussion. The bad news is that he is dealing with an ankle injury.
The severity of the injury is not yet known, nor is his status for the Packers’ Week 15 matchup against the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Other Key Takeaways from the Green Bay Packers Injury Report
- Darnell Savage was estimated to not participate at all due to a new shoulder injury. Savage has already missed several games this year, has spent time on injured reserve, and is in the final year of his rookie contract (he is playing on his fifth year option). If Savage is unable to return from this should injury, it is possible that he played his last game for the Packers.
- AJ Dillon had been dealing with a groin injury that limited him practice over the last few weeks. While he is no longer listed to have a groin injury, he does have a new thumb injury.
- Eric Stokes, who has yet to be activated from injured reserve, was estimated to have been a full participant. It is likely that he is activated this week.
