Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed was evaluated for a concussion when he was hit on the two-point conversion in the fourth quarter in Monday night’s 24-22 loss to the New York Giants. Reed is not the only wide receiver on the roster that is banged up.
Christian Watson is dealing with a hamstring injury and Dontayvion Wicks suffered an ankle injury against New York as well. During the game on Monday night, Jayden Reed caught eight passes for only 27 yards receiving and averaged 3.4 yards per reception. He also rushed for 38 yards on four carries and a score. Reed averaged 9.5 yards per carry.
If Jayden Reed can not get out of concussion protocol for Sunday’s contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it could possibly spell trouble for this offense in a game that they need desperately. Both teams are 6-7 and Green Bay is in the seventh spot in the NFC and Tampa Bay leads the NFC South division.
Reed has been the best rookie so far this season for the Packers. He has caught 48 passes for 540 yards receiving and five touchdowns, with averaging 11.3 yards per reception. Reed has 11 carries for 119 yards rushing and two touchdowns, along with 10.8 yards per carry.
He is one of the most versatile players on this football team. Reed has been the most consistent wide receiver on the team this season.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Jayden Reed Being Inactive On Sunday Potentially Would Leave Them in a Hole
Green Bay being injured at the wide receiver position could not have possibly come at a worse time. Christian Watson has had hamstring issues all season long and Dontayvion Wicks has an ankle issue. If Reed was ruled out because of a concussion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers along with two others, those are three of the top four wide receivers on the roster being ruled inactive.
That would leave Romeo Doubs, Malik Heath, and Sami Toure as the top three wide receivers on the roster for Sunday’s matchup against Tampa Bay. Would they sign somebody or bring up someone else from the practice squad? This would also be the biggest test for quarterback Jordan Love to date. We would also get to find out what Love is made of without his top targets.
