Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander was sidelined during Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury after leaving the Dallas Cowboys game with an ankle injury. Alexander picked off Dak Prescott once in the 48-32 win for Green Bay over Dallas.
With the game being on Saturday night and not on Sunday this week against the San Francisco 49ers on the road in the NFC Divisional Round, that is one less day for Alexander to get his body right. Thursday will be a huge day for Jaire Alexander because if he does not practice then, he could be on the wrong side of the injury report.
Only two other players are not practicing on Wednesday and they are AJ Dillon and Kingsley Enagbare. When Alexander was on the field on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, he was very effective. He did cover CeeDee Lamb and did have nine receptions for 110 yards receiving, but the game was out of reach when Lamb padded his stats.
If he is going to play, he would either guard Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk depending on the game plan for the Packers’ defense. It feels like San Francisco has 1A and 1B at the wide receiver position.
Jaire Alexander Being Sidelined on Wednesday for the Green Bay Packers Could Mean Kelsean Nixon and Carrington Valentine Being the Top Two Cornerbacks Against the San Francisco 49ers
Alexander has missed 10 games this season due to injury. Being on the injury report on Wednesday is no stranger to him by any means. Jaire Alexander being on the injury report this season is bothersome. San Francisco feels like a better football team than Dallas does.
The San Francisco 49ers have much more offensive weapons than the Dallas Cowboys do. Even if Alexander plays and slows down Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, and Christian McCaffrey can still have their field day.
It would be a tough task for Green Bay’s defense to slow down San Francisco if Nixon and Valentine were the starters. They have started games this year at the cornerback position and have been fine. Alexander just brings a different dimension to it at the cornerback position. Will see if his condition improves before Saturday.
