Jordan Love put the Green Bay Packers in a great position to win Sunday’s contest against the Atlanta Falcons. Green Bay entered the fourth and final period with a 24-12 lead after a strong three quarters of play.
And then, it all came crashing down in the fourth.
Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love Has Roller-Coaster Performance Vs. Falcons

After a strong debut against the Chicago Bears in Week 1, Love wasn’t exactly able to follow that up with a massive performance in Week 2. The 24-year-old finished the game with 14-of-25 completed passes for 151 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
The three TDs were obviously impressive, but all of them came in the first three quarters of play. Love was far from his best when it mattered the most in the final period.
“I think it just comes down to execution and being better in the fourth quarter, being able to play a full game,” Love said, via Mike Spofford of the team website. “We didn’t execute well enough in the fourth quarter, couldn’t move the ball, couldn’t convert on third downs.”

Love’s biggest error came late in the fourth quarter with the Packers holding onto a precarious 24-22 lead with six minutes remaining. Green Bay was facing fourth-and-short on their own 34-yerd line, and Love’s decision to try and pull off a QB sneak would have been a good one if only he had executed it corrently. He did not:

Love himself admitted to completely “messing up” that play when he “said the wrong thing” druing the botched play.
Green Bay was assessed with a five-yard penalty and were forced to punt the ball. This was a tough and costly lesson to learn for the young QB.
Matt LaFleur Sounds Off on Jordan Love’s Performance

For his part, however, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur remains unfazed by his quarterback’s up-and-down performance. The Green Bay shot-caller opted to focus on Love’s strong play in the first three quarters:
“I thought he was playing really well, showed poise, made some off-schedule plays, made great decisions, did a good job taking care of the ball,” LaFleur said. “A lot of positives from that.
“Quite frankly, I wish we would’ve had more opportunities for him.”
Love will get more than a few more opportunities in the weeks to come. He will get a chance to redeem himself next Sunday when Green Bay takes on Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.
