Green Bay Packers Have 1 Of Wildest Swings In Odds To Win Super Bowl 59

When Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers parted ways, there were not a few people who expressed their doubts on whether the team would still be good in the 2023 NFL season. Apparently, the Packers were good enough not just to finish with an above-.500 record and make the playoffs, but also to advance past the wild-card round of the postseason.

In other words, the Green Bay Packers exceeded expectations that were tied to their relatively long BetMGM+5000 odds to win Super Bowl 58 given to them before the start of the 2023 campaign. Fast forward to today, the same sportsbook has Jordan Love and company at a much shorter +2500 to win Super Bowl 59. That’s one of the five biggest differences in pre-season Super Bowl 58 and post-Super Bowl 58 Super Bowl 59 odds, as noted by The Athletic.

Finally, the Green Bay Packers, who are now 25-to-1 and were initially given a slightly better chance, according to BetMGM, than the very similar Texans (who were 22-1 initially; the teams are now even). You can argue that this is because the AFC is expected to be stronger than the NFC. But it’s also fair to say the Packers have a lower chance of winning the NFC North than the Texans have in the AFC South. Because of the Aaron Rodgers injury, the Packers have only an extra second-round pick, not a first. They are in the red in cap space. The key to their 2024 is the defense taking a major step up.

The Texans have the biggest swing of them all, going from +20000 to win Super Bowl 58 to only +2500 to win Super Bowl 59, and it certainly has a lot to do with the oozing potential of CJ Stroud, who just won the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

The Green Bay Packers have their promising young quarterback as well in Jordan Love, who showed he is more than capable of handling the task under center for the team by throwing for 4,159 passing yard and 32 touchdowns in 2023.
