The Green Bay Packers have been very active in the 2024 offseason, as have the rest of the NFC North. For the Packers, it is important to keep an eye on all the moves that are going on around the division. While the Green Bay Packers front office keeps their eyes out on what their rivals are up to, they will see the Minnesota Vikings move to keep one of their best defenders on the roster.

Harrison Smith is the Minnesota Vikings’ longest-tenured player. Over the 2024 offseason, the Vikings moved on from two of their cornerstone players. With the departure of Kirk Cousins and Danielle Hunter, many people assumed they were likely to move on from Harrison Smith. Unfortunately for the Green Bay Packers, they must deal with the All-Pro for at least one more season.

Six-time Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith has agreed to a restructured contract and will play a 13th season with the #Vikings at age 35, per sources.

The 29th overall pick in 2012, Smith has 34 career INTs, becoming one of the best safeties of his era… and he’s not done yet. pic.twitter.com/Wt1PjmlEzr

The 12-year veteran is set to enter his 13th season with the team that drafted him in the first round of 2012, In Smith’s career he has displayed top-tier ball production and playmaking ability. One of the most versatile safetys of the era as he has proven himself as a tackler, pass rusher and pass defender year in and year out, Coming off of an overall mediocre season, posting a PFF grade of under 70, it appears there is some level of decline for the 35-year-old safety. This does not mean the Green Bay Packers stopped marking him as a key player though.

Harrison Smith has shown up time and time again against the Green Bay Packers. In the 22 games against the Packers Smith has posted almost 100 solo tackles. Though, much like the other teams in the NFC North in that time frame, Smith holds a losing record to the Green Bay Packers at 10-11-1,

The Green Bay Packers will have him circled on every snap he plays because with age comes knowledge and Harrison Smith is one of the smartest players in the NFL. His alignment is as deceiving as anyone and his impact on any quarterback is immense,
