The Green Bay Packers suffered their first heartbreak of 2023. After leading 24-12 through three quarters, the Falcons scored 13 unanswered points to win 25-24 in Week Two. The Packers were without many key starters in that game including Aaron Jones, Christian Watson, and David Bakhtiari.
As we head into Week Three, the Packers are hopeful to get back (at least) one of those stars.
The Green Bay Packers Are Expected To Get Back Christian Watson In Week Three
As Christian Watson practiced on Wednesday, he increased his chances of returning from a hamstring injury and playing in Green Bay’s home opener on Sunday.
After missing the first two weeks of the 2023 season, Watson practiced last Friday but wasn’t quite ready to return Sunday in Atlanta. He’ll have three more practice opportunities before playing against the Saints.
MJ Hurely had this to say about Watson:
Sources are telling me and Third Down Thursday that the Packers “expect as of now” for Christian Watson to make his season debut against the Saints Sunday. This will be the first time Love has his full compliment of WR’s in 2023.
With Watson back, the Packers have to be excited about their offensive potential. He recorded 41 passes for 611 yards and nine total touchdowns (seven receiving) last season. During opening week, the Packers offense scored 31 points – not counting linebacker Quay Walker’s pick-6 defensive touchdown.
They scored 24 against the Falcons. Getting Watson back feels like one more score could be in the books per week (on average).
