The Green Bay Packers will have some interesting decisions to make when it comes to the 53-man roster, especially with running back Emanuel Wilson. Wilson is trying to make a roster spot for the Packers at the running back position.
Emanuel Wilson Needs To Be On the Packers’ 53-Man Roster
On Saturday night, Emanuel Wilson rushed for 63 yards on 15 carries and averaged 4.2 yards per carry for the Green Bay Packers. He also caught two passes for 15 yards receiving and averaged 7.5 yards per reception. This came in the 21-17 loss against the New England Patriots that was suspended with 10:29 remaining in regulation.
So far this preseason, Emanuel Wilson has played in two games and has rushed for 174 yards and 8.3 yards per carry. That is the most in the NFL.
He also has two touchdowns rushing, which is tied for the most in the NFL. Emanuel Wilson has also forced seven missed tackles and also has six running first downs which is the most in the NFL this preseason.
Earlier this offseason, he was signed by the Denver Broncos for three days and was then released. Emanuel Wilson is proving his doubters wrong with the Green Bay Packers this preseason and should be a member of their 53-man roster.
Green Bay Packers Need To Keep Emanuel Wilson On the 53-Man Roster
Aaron Jones, and AJ Dillon are the top two running backs on the roster. Patrick Taylor is listed third on the depth chart for Green Bay and Lew Nichols is currently listed fourth on the depth chart.
Taylor is third on the depth chart due to special teams’ reasons. Emanuel Wilson needs to take Lew Nichols’ fourth and final running back spot on the Green Bay Packers roster. They can’t let this preseason performance of his go unnoticed and not make the 53-man roster.
Wilson was an undrafted rookie out of Fort Valley State and is making a name for himself during the preseason. It would be a shame if the Green Bay Packers let Emanuel Wilson walk out the door after the third preseason game.
