The Green Bay Packers fell to 11-5 on the season with their 27-25 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17 of the 2024 NFL season. Fortunately for the Packers, they have already clinched a spot in the postseason. Unfortunately, with their loss and the Washington Commanders‘ victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football, Green Bay it not guaranteed to be the sixth seed, the spot they currently hold.
Even if the Packers beat the Chicago Bears next week, the Commanders could overtake them for the sixth seed with a win over the Dallas Cowboys in their final regular season game. Both teams would have identical 12-5 records, but Washington would have the tiebreaker with a better winning percentage over other NFC teams.
And while many Packers fans are distraught over the possibility of facing the toughest teams in the conference in order to make a Super Bowl run, a reporter for one of those teams is not sure they want their team to face the Packers in the opening round.
Philadelphia Eagles Reporter Does Not Want His Team to Face the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round
The Lions and Vikings will face off on Sunday Night Football next weekend to determine the winner of the NFC North and the conference’s number one seed. Minnesota is currently 14-2 while Detroit is 13-2 with a matchup with the San Francisco 49ers tonight on Monday Night Football. Even if the Lions somehow lose that game, they could win the division by beating the Vikings for the second time next weekend.
The winner will be the top seed in the NFC while the loser will be the fifth seed and top Wild Card. The Philadelphia Eagles, who defeated the Packers in Week One in Brazil, are going to be the second seed. If Green Bay drops to the seventh seed, they will travel to Philadelphia for a rematch.
And one Eagles reporter is not so sure he wants that to happen:
Packers would be an extremely tough first game for the Eagles in the playoffs
Great offense, great defense, playoff experience. They check all the boxes.
Eagles will be tested right away if it is GB

Of course, if it is not the Packers, Philadelphia would play Washington in the Wild Card round, a team they went 1-1 against in the regular season.
Why the Green Bay Packers Would Be a Tough Matchup for the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Playoffs
Philadelphia is 13-3 on the season and has Saquon Barkley, who has rushed for over 2,000 yards this season. After such a dominating regular season, why would Eagles fans and reporters be concerned about facing the Packers?
Despite the discourse surrounding Green Bay following their loss to Minnesota, they really are one of the better teams in the NFC, arguably the fourth-best after the Eagles, Lions, and Vikings (in no particular order).
The Packers also have the sixth-best rushing defense in the NFL, allowing 100.4 yards per game. They also have the sixth-best scoring defense, allowing 19.6 points per game.
Brandon McManus has brought stability to the special teams/kicking unit, so that particular aspect of the game is no longer in question.
Finally, Green Bay also has a potent offense. Yes, they got off to a slow start against Minnesota, as they have against all the teams they have lost to. However, they rank eighth in the NFL in points scored per game at 27.4 points per game. Philadelphia is just ahead of them in seventh with 27.7 points per game.
It is worth noting that Jayden Reed lit the Eagles up in Week One, racking up 171 all-purpose yards and two total touchdowns.
If Green Bay does play Philadelphia in the Wild Card Round, it should be a very good game, one that the Packers can certainly win.
