Early in the offseason, former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams made several comments and posted several social media pictures indicating that he was open to a return to the team that drafted him back in 2014. After his trade away from the Packers following the 2021 season, his career did not take the path that he had hoped, and many felt a return to Green Bay would help make things right for him.

While he made the Pro Bowl and was named First Team All-Pro with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, he was clearly unhappy with the organization. The Raiders parted ways with quarterback Derek Carr, who was Adams’ college teammate and a major reason he chose Las Vegas as his preferred destination. The constant change in head coach and quarterback also made him quite disillusioned with the franchise.

After playing three games for the Raiders in 2024, Adams was suddenly listed with an injury and missed a few games. It was no secret, though, that he was unhappy and that his sudden ailment was used an excuse for Las Vegas to find a trading partner for him.

It did not take them long as Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets had been trying to get him for over a year. Eventually, he joined Rodgers in New York for their long-awaited reunion.

And while Adams put up strong numbers with the Jets to the tune of 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games, New York finished just 5-12. A changing of the guard at head coach and general manager, along with his hefty cap hit, led the team to release him.

Even before this happened, many Packers fans believed Adams was hoping to return to Green Bay. On Sunday, they were sorely disappointed.

On Sunday evening, it was reported that Adams had reached a two-year contract agreement with the Los Angeles Rams worth $46 million.

Fortunately, or unfortunately (depending on how one looks at it), the Packers do not play the Rams this year.
