The Green Bay Packers are coming off a historic win vs. the New Orleans Saints. After trailing 17-0 with just about 11 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Packers rallied off 18 points to win 18-17. It was a dramatic finish for the Packers’ 2023 home opener.
While the Packers won, they have clearly been missing some of their top weapons over the last few weeks. Christian Watson and Aaron Jones have played a combined one game this season. Watson has missed all three games due to a hamstring injury and Aaron Jones injured his hamstring in Week One vs. the Chicago Bears. However, early signs point to a possible return for Jones in Week Four vs. the Detroit Lions.
The Green Bay Packers Announce Positive News Regarding Star Running Back Aaron Jones
According to Mike Garafolo of The NFL Network:
Packers running back Aaron Jones (hamstring) would’ve been limited in practice today, as he was late last week, Matt LaFleur says. Sounds like he’s got a good shot to return on Thursday against the Lions.
In Jones’ lone appearance this season he accounted for 127 total yards and two touchdowns. It is no secret that the Packers’ rushing attack has struggled without Jones on the field.
Jones appeared to have a “50-50” chance of playing on Sunday, however, he was eventually ruled out. The Packers were without a number of star players vs. the New Orleans Saints. Aaron Jones, David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Christian Watson, Jaire Alexander, and De’Vondre Campbell (who went out extremely early vs. the Saints) all missed the Saints game.
It will be interesting to see how many of these players return for their pivotal Week Four matchup vs. the Detroit Lions. Both teams sit at 2-1 on the year and the winner will have an early advantage in the division.
