Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers are preparing for a redemption game that stems back to Week 18 of last season. In that game last year, the Packers fell to the Detroit Lions when a win would have put them into the playoffs. Now, they have a chance at a win-and-in matchup with the Chicago Bears at Lambeau Field.
Prior to this week’s game, the Packers know that they need to play well defensively. Justin Fields and the Bears’ offense has been playing much better in recent weeks. They are fresh off of a 37-17 dominant win over the Atlanta Falcons.
With that in mind, Brian Gutekunst and the front office made a move to add more defensive back depth on Tuesday.
Green Bay Packers Add Intriguing Defensive Back Before Week 18
According to a release from the Packers, they have signed defensive back Anthony Johnson to the practice squad. It will be his second stint on Green Bay’s practice squad this season.

Ideally, the Packers will not be forced to play Johnson. However, it makes a lot of sense to add more depth, especially if the team can work their way into the playoffs.
Jaire Alexander has missed a ton of time due to injury and was suspended for the Vikings’ game. Eric Stokes is back on IR and has been unable to play for most of the season. Johnson may not play, but there is always a chance he is forced into action.
As always, the Green Bay Packers will look to add to the roster if they see a way to improve. Some rumblings have the Packers connected to recently released veteran running back Dalvin Cook. We’ll have to wait and see if there are any more moves in the works before Week 18.
