(Breaking) Former Green Bay Packers Defensive Captain Hints At New Team

The Green Bay Packers may have a former defensive player who is back on the market.  The 2022 off-season saw a number of players get traded to,  or sign with new teams.  Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, E.Q. St. Brown, and Za’Darius Smith were the bigger names to depart the team.  Now it would seem that one year later, one of those players could be on the move again.  Former Packers defensive captain Za’Darius Smith has reportedly listed his house for sale in Eagan, MN.

Minnesota Vikings current edge rusher Za’Darius Smith has put his house up for sale in Eagan, MN according to The Star Tribune’s Ben Goessling, Smith.  Goessling goes on to say:

Preparing to sell a house, of course, doesn’t mean that a player is gone; there’d certainly seem to be a fit for Smith in the Vikings’ defense with Brian Flores. But they have a decision to make on him in the next month, with $5.05M of his base salary becoming guaranteed on 3/19.
This decision comes after Smith deleting all Minnesota Vikings content off his social media recently, a move he did with the Packers as well.  Za’Darius Smith started the 2022-23 season off strong.  However, he only had 0.5 sacks in the second half of the season.  Za’Darius Smith still finished in the top five in the NFL with 80 pressures per PFF.  Many contribute the lack of sack production during the second half of the season was him seeing constant double teams that opened things up for Danielle Hunter.  If the Vikings chose to move on from Smith, he would instantly be a hot commodity on the free agent market.  It would be unlikely Smith would come back to Green Bay given the recent turmoil between the two, however, edge rusher will certainly be a position of concern for the Packers until Rashan Gary comes back from his torn ACL.
