The Green Bay Packers made the decision to move on from a number of former players during the 2023 off-season. Whether it was by trade or free agency, the Packers moved on from many players who had been around for years.
A few of those players went to rival teams such as Marcedes Lewis and Robert Tonyan joining the Chicago Bears. Another was Dean Lowry joining the Minnesota Vikings. So far, one of those former starters is off to a rough start this season.
Former Green Bay Packers Starter Dean Lowry Having Worst Statistical Year Of His Career With The Minnesota Vikings
According to Will Ragatz of Fan Nation:
Vikings DT Dean Lowry has a 37.7 PFF grade and zero pressures in three games. That grade ranks 48th of 49 IDL who have played at least 100 snaps so far.
Lowry’s snap count has decreased each week and could continue to drop as Jaquelin Roy (9 snaps this week) gets more involved.
Through three games in 2023 Lowry as 2 solo tackles and 4 assisted tackles. He has zero tackles for loss, zero QB hits, and has started two of Minnesota’s three games thus far.
The veteran defensive lineman spent seven season in Green Bay and, outside of his rookie season where he didn’t start a single game, he never had this type of start to the season. Many weren’t surprised to see the Packers let Lowry go.
According to Packers’ radio journalist Mike Clemens, Lowry spoke about meeting with the Vikings’ front office. Lowry said head coach Kevin O’Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah were more approachable than the Packers front office: “[O’Connell and Adofo-Mensah are] very down to earth guys. That’s different from a front office standpoint from where I’ve been,” Lowry said.
The Vikings have started the year 0-3.
