The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions will face off in an important early-season NFC North matchup on Thursday Night Football this week. Both teams are sitting at 2-1 and looking to get an early lead for the division.
Injuries play a role in every game throughout the NFL season and this week is no different. While the Packers are waiting for final word on Aaron Jones and Christian Watson, the Lions are now waiting on a final word for one of their key starters.
Detroit Lions Starting Running Back David Montgomery Suddenly Listed As Questionable Vs. The Green Bay Packers
Per Jordan Sigler of Wisconsin Sports Heroics:
The Lions are hoping to have Montgomery back in a bid to take the lead in the NFC North. The Lions and Packers are both 2-1 and have their starting running backs dealing with injuries early in the season.
But the Lions injury report Wednesday leaves the possibility open that Montgomery will miss the game. According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, Montgomery is questionable to play the Packers on Thursday night.
Given Campbell’s earlier statements, one would think Montgomery would be able to go. However, the timing of a Thursday game is unfortunate for injury returns.
Montgomery has played in two of the Lions’ three games so far this year. In those two games he has accumulated 37 rushing attempts, 141 rushing yards, and one touchdown. Losing Montgomery would certainly have an impact on Detroit’s offense.
Packers Fans React To The Lions Possibly Losing David Montgomery
With the Packers dealing with a significant amount of injuries so far this season, it was no surprise their fans reacted on social media to their next opponent dealing with some as well:

Gut feeling: #OnePride David Montgomery #GoPackGo Aaron Jones #GoPackGo Christian Watson
Will ALL play in Week 4 on TNF.
The Packers are a very conservative staff medically, so they won’t play someone who is not ready. I’d say there is a 75% chance they play. The Lions are…
