The Green Bay Packers have been on a tear when it comes to restructuring contracts. Aaron Jones, Jaire Alexander, Preston Smith, and Kenny Clark have all already adjusted their contracts to help with the Packers’ 2023 salary cap. Those four players have saved the Packers over $40 million so far. Now there is yet another restructuring coming that will likely have a massive impact on the 2023 salary cap.
Green Bay Packers Working With David Bakhtiari To Restructure Contract

Per Tom Silverstein:
Gutekunst confirmed what PackersNews reported earlier this week that he is working with LT David Bakhtiari on restructuring his contract. He expects the deal to be done soon and Bakhtiari to be back on the team this year.
Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst announced the news while meeting with Silverstein and the local Green Bay media in Indianapolis before his scheduled media appearance at the NFL Scouting Combine. Bakhtiari’s current contract runs through the 2024 season. That includes a $9.5 million roster bonus in 2023. One option the Packers have, is converting the roster bonus and some of his base salary into a signing bonus. In conjunction with that, they would add void years to the deal and drastically lower his cap hit in 2023. The one negative to doing something like this is pushing cap dollars into the future. That could potentially create a massive dead cap hit when his deal ends in 2024.
David Bakhtiari missed the first part of the 2022 season due to his ACL tear back on December 31st, 2020. It was a long road to recovery, but he played at a high level for the remaining 11 games last season. According to Pro Football Focus, Bakhtiari allowed 10 pressures (zero sacks) and committed five penalties over 597 total snaps in 2022.
