The Green Bay Packers have a variety of questions that they need to answer regarding their roster for the 2024 NFL season. It does not sound like David Bakhtiari will be back, considering his recent knee injury history along with the fact that Rasheed Walker played well at left tackle last season. In a recent interview at the NFL scouting combine, general manager Brian Gutekunst said that Walker has “certainly proved” that he can be a starting left tackle in the league.
On Friday night, a report from Tom Silverstein also brought the Packers’ question at running back to light. He stated that Green Bay is not likely to bring 2020 NFL Draft pick AJ Dillon back. Furthermore, he stated that it is possible that the Packers cut Aaron Jones if they cannot agree on a way to lower his 2024 salary cap number.
The Green Bay Packers Also Have a Question at Cornerback
On the defensive side of the ball, the Packers have all-but officially moved on from safety Darnell Savage. With Rudy Ford coming up on free agency as well, Green Bay is in the market for a whole new set of starting safeties.
Additionally, Green Bay is in dire need of cornerback depth. Last season, rookie Carrington Valentine and depth piece Corey Ballentine started several games following injuries to Jaire Alexander and the trade of Rasul Douglas to the Buffalo Bills.
Keisean Nixon was the Packers’ starting slot cornerback last season, but he is a far better kick returner than he is a defender. Green Bay will likely look to retain him for special teams, but look to the draft or free agency for a slot corner.
In regards to free agency, one Packers insider suggests the team may look to former top-10 NFL Draft pick that has had a disappointing career up to this point.
Green Bay Packers Insider Suggests CJ Henderson May Be a Free Agent Target
Earlier today, Packers insider Matt Schneidman of The Athletic posted the following on X (formerly Twitter):
Keep an eye on corner C.J. Henderson for the Packers in free agency. He was the No. 9 overall pick in 2020. The 25-year-old spent two seasons with Jacksonville and the last three with Carolina. Packers need more CB depth.

CJ Henderson was the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He only played in eight games as a rookie due to a groin injury. He had an interception and six passes defended, but opposing quarterbacks had a passer rating of 110.2 when targeting him.
In fact, there has not been a season in Henderson’s career in which he has not given up a passer rating over 100. Jacksonville traded Henderson to the Carolina Panthers midway through his second NFL season. He remained underwhelming and the Panthers decline to pick up his fifth year option.
Last year, Henderson played in 12 games (seven starts) had two passes defended, and gave up a passer rating of 106.8.
Was CJ Henderson Really Arrested?
There was a viral video of a Panthers player, clearly Henderson, being arrested for illegal possession of a firearm back in 2022:
However, no news outlets have any reports of the arrest and there are no criminal charges on file. Furthermore, Henderson has not addressed the incident publicly either.
