Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson was struggling to be on the same page all season long with quarterback Jordan Love until Thanksgiving Day hit. Watson caught a 53-yard pass on the first play of the game on the road against the Detroit Lions, and it sparked a 29-22 upset win for the Packers over the Lions.
This was the first time this season that Christian Watson was the leading receiver in the game for Green Bay. He caught five passes for 94 yards receiving and one touchdown. Watson averaged 18.8 yards reception in that game. He also caught a 16-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Love in the third quarter.
On the season, Watson has caught 21 passes for 351 yards receiving and three touchdowns. He is averaging 16.7 yards per reception and has been targeted 44 times this season. This was a big game for Watson because he has been hearing the outside noise of being the fourth-best wide receiver on the team. When Watson was targeted against the Detroit Lions, Jordan Love had a 153.3 passer rating, and it was the highest by far this season.
Rookie wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks was out against Detroit (8-3) due to a concussion. Many fans thought Wicks was a better option than Watson was. Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed have had chemistry with Jordan Love this season.
The only one that has not connected well was Love to Watson. Is it finally going to click, or is this a one-game fluke? Well, time is going to tell over the final month of the regular season, and the Green Bay Packers are alive in the NFC Playoff race.
Green Bay Packers Fans React to Christian Watson Finally Doing Something This Season
The Packers fanbase has been anything but kind this season in regard to the way Watson has been playing this year. Thursday was the first time all season long that fans were happy with the way the Green Bay wide receiver played.
Christian Watson had that dog in him high pointing the ball and holding onto those contested catches while taking big licks. If he can keep that dog in him he has incredible potential

Christian Watson had a great game today. He attacked the football in the air, and very easily could’ve had two more TDs.
Hopefully this performance gets him going.

This is what everyone hopes for the rest of the season out of Watson. He has the talent to be better and make things work with quarterback Jordan Love. The injuries during training camp and throughout the start of the season did help matters for him.
Green Bay has a talented wide receiver group with Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks. Watson will need to repeat the same performance against the Kansas City Chiefs (8-3) to make fans believe in him again.

Only if he starts stacking days like this and can even improve upon it.
