The Green Bay Packers shocked the world on Sunday Night Football after rallying to defeat the reigning Superbowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs. They battled for 60 minutes, keeping the lead for the duration of the game after the first possession where they held the ball for half a quarter and found the end zone with rookie TE Ben Sims.
Kansas City was decently favored in this game, but playing in Lambeau in December is no easy feat. Matt LaFleur prepared his team adequately amidst a mid-season turnaround and coached them to their third win in a row.
Green Bay Packers Fend Off Chiefs In 4th Quarter Stand
Chiefs’ all star QB Patrick Mahomes has made a legendary career for himself backboned by his ability to drive the length of the field on last-second, unbelievable plays to come from behind and snuff out a win from his opponent. However, in tonight’s game, the Green Bay Packers held their own and locked him down to upset the Chiefs 19-27.
Jordan Love started the game as he ended it: strong. 267 yards and 3 passing TDs against the blitz-heavy Kansas City defense is a stout performance. His success is largely credited to his offensive line, who kept him safe for the majority of the game by only allowing 2 sacks against a team in contention for sack leader by the end of the regular season.

Love has been outstanding in the 3-game win streak that’s taken them to a respectable 6-6 record heading into the last few weeks of the regular season. Without any picks, he’s responsible for 8 TDs and 857 yards through the air. The Packers may have found their next Aaron Rodgers just yet.
Christian Watson also showed up to play, securing 7 receptions for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns, matching his performance from the previous 2 games combined. The Packers’ offense is back in business with Love leading the charge with his incredible play-making potential and smart decisions.

Green Bay’s defense was the real MVP of this game. By limiting Travis Kelce, Mahomes’ prime target in crunch time, to 4 catches and 81 yards, they suffocated the Chiefs and forced them to resort to other means of offensive production. The Packers hunted down Mahomes 3 times and forced an interception that lead to the field goal that changed Kansas City’s game plan in the 4th quarter.
Fans held their breath as the Chiefs took possession with under 2 minutes to play. Scoring in these situations is what makes Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes so dangerous. The Packers kept them out of the end zone, though, as the clock ticked down to zero after a long ball sailed incomplete, securing their 3rd win in a row to match the Minnesota Vikings at 6-6.
