There are more than a few former Green Bay Packers players that decided to follow Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. Of course, Rodgers’ 2023 NFL season ended after just four snaps when he tore his Achilles tendon against the Buffalo Bills in Week One. The rest of the former Packers, along with the other Jets players, are trying to make the best out of a bad situation without the four-time NFL MVP.
They almost did so on Sunday night. While New York ended up losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 23-20, their late run to tie the game and Zach Wilson‘s solid performance has given the Jets more to look forward to than they have had since Rodgers went down.
One of the key players who contributed to the Jets’ late run to tie the game was former Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard. While he has had a quiet season up to this point, his big-time catches in Week Four reminded fans why New York was willing to give him a four-year $44 million contract this offseason.
Former Green Bay Packers Wide Receiver Allen Lazard Goes Viral on Social Media
Going into the Jets’ Week Four matchup with the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, Lazard had just seven receptions for 108 yards on the season. Such small production has undoubtedly been the result of playing without Rodgers for most of the season.
However, Lazard showed his big-play ability as Wilson and the Jets mounted a comeback against Kansas City. He came up with three receptions (on three targets) for 61 yards and a big touchdown.
For his heroics, Lazard went viral on social media:

Oh my, what a play by Allen Lazard. Was underthrown but he came back to it and made a heck of a catch down the field. 39 yard gain. #Jets

The touchdown that Lazard caught made the score 20-18. The Jets converted the two-point try to tie the score at 20.
Kansas City, however, responded with a field goal to put them ahead for good.
