The worst news has come for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets. It is breaking news that according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Aaron Rodgers does have a torn Achilles ( a complete tear of it), and the MRI confirms it. He is indeed out for the rest of the season.
Rodgers only played four snaps on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills. He injured himself in the first quarter after he was sacked. There are already questions after this injury whether his NFL career is over or not. That is going to be interesting to see at a later date, but the Jets are devasted about this news, and so is Aaron Rodgers.
The New York Jets had such high expectations heading into this season after Aaron Rodgers was acquired via trade in the offseason from the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers is currently 39 years old, and he will be 40 years old once the 2023 season ends. Zach Wilson will officially be the starting quarterback for the Jets moving forward.
It will be interesting to see whether or not the Jets decide to bring in another quarterback like Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan, Tom Brady, or Jameis Winston. The other quarterback in the Jets room is no one, and they would need to bring someone in or call up Tim Boyle from the practice squad. It will be interesting to see what they do at the quarterback position.
Aaron Rodgers Out For the Season Is Bad for the Jets
This was supposed to be the season that Rodgers led the Jets to a Super Bowl title, something that has not been done since 1969. All of those hopes were dashed on the fourth play of the season after he was brought into the blue medical tent and then carted off the field. He was in a walking boot.
Even though X-rays were negative, a lot of people feared it would be worse, and it happened to turn out that way with the torn Achilles. Those could be the only four snaps he ever plays for the Jets because he is 40 years old next year and could consider retirement even though he has two years remaining on his contract with the franchise.
