For the Green Bay Packers, they have moved on to Jordan Love. The Aaron Rodgers era for the New York Jets is also fully underway. Rodgers has shown up for OTAs and is actively participating. The effect a four-time MVP quarterback can have on a team that is not used to having that type of leadership can be eye-opening, to say the least. Reports have been circulating out of New York ever since the trade went down. Even serious allegations are being made against the team. However, the Green Bay Packers’ side of the trade may have undergone a drastic change in the last few days.
Green Bay Packers’ Return For Aaron Rodgers May Have Just Drastically Changed

To recap, the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets agreed to an Aaron Rodgers trade just days before the 2023 NFL Draft. New York received Aaron Rodgers, the 15th overall pick, and a fifth round pick in the 2023 Draft.
Green Bay is received the 13th overall pick, a second round pick, a sixth round pick, and a 2024 conditional second round pick. If Rodgers plays 65% of the snaps in 2023, that second round pick will become a first round selection. For the second year in a row, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has gotten high picks for a player that was never going to be on his team (Davante Adams was traded for a first and second round pick last season). However, that 65% may have just taken a hit. According to an article by Brad Penner:
According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Rodgers was seen at New York’s OTAs on Tuesday favoring his ankle. Russini tweeted that something was “clearly not right” with Rodgers.
SNY’s Connor Hughes followed up on Russini’s report and noted that Rodgers didn’t appear to be limping and looked to be favoring his side.
Rodgers turns 40 in December so it’s inevitable that he’s going to have to deal with some nagging injuries here and there — the human body doesn’t recover quite the same at 39/40 as it does at 29/30.
Packers fans, however, need to hope that Rodgers doesn’t suffer any significant injuries that force him to miss a large chunk of time. That’s because Rodgers needs to play 65 percent of the Jets’ snaps in 2023 for the conditional second-round pick that was sent to the Packers by New York to turn into a first-round pick.
Rodgers may revert to avoiding “pre-practice conditioning” though, after tweaking his calf while using medicine balls and sleds to get loose for practice. “I haven’t done it before,” Rodgers said. “I haven’t done it in 18 years. So but obviously there’s some science behind it.” If this injury lingers into the season, it could drastically impact Rodgers’ ability to play in 65% of the snaps.
