The Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers will forever be synonymous with one another.  The two spent 18 years together, won a championship, countless division titles, and an incredible amount of memories.  Most Packers fans were heart broken to see Rodgers go down with a season ending Achilles injury during the very first possession of his season.  While fans may not have wanted to see him win a Super Bowl elsewhere, you never want to see an injury.

All season long fans analysts and fans have speculated if Rodgers will return this season, next season, or ever in his career.  While Rodgers was adamant on returning this season, that doesn’t look to be the case. Today, he released a statement regarding his future with the New York Jets as a whole.

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team:

Aaron Rodgers on him running out on the field with the American flag in Week 1.

“That won’t be the lasting image of me in a Jet jersey. … The night is always darkest before the dawn and we’re going to rise again.”

Rodgers is clearly adamant on returning to the Jets next season and pursue a championship.

As ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports, head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Monday that “Aaron wants to play”.

As NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport wrote on Saturday, Rodgers must be activated off IR by Wednesday if he is to play this season, although the teams’ performance against the Dolphins likely played a big role.

After being cleared to practice on Nov. 29, ESPN’s Adam Schefter announced on Saturday he would likely be cleared for practice “this upcoming week.” Rodgers’ long-term health is at risk if he rushes back to practice when the Jets are already out of the playoff picture.

Aaron Rodgers May Return To Green Bay Next Season

The New York Jets and Green Bay Packers are both currently in third place in their respective divisions.  Next season, the the NFC North will host an AFC East team.  If the season ends with both teams finishing in the same place within their division, Rodgers will make his return to Lambeau in 2024.

That would likely be one of the more “must watch” games of 2024.  It will be interesting to see If that is how the cards fall with three games left this season.
