It was an overall brutal performance from the Green Bay Packers offense last night. They fell to the Las Vegas Raiders 17-13 on Monday Night Football. Jordan Love had his worst game as a pro and the coaching was subpar to say the least.
The loss drops the Packers to 2-3 on the season as they are now on their bye week. It’s safe to say they have a lot to clean up before they return. Here are three studs and three dud from last night’s loss.
Green Bay Packers Stud: AJ Dillon
Coming into last night, AJ Dillon was getting a ton of heat from the fans. Most of it was rightfully so too. Aaron Jones has only played in two games this season a Dillon has had a chance to show he can be a three down back. Until last night, he under-performed.
I thought Dillon played his best game of the year last night. He only had 20 carries for 76 yards but did score the only touchdown for the Green Bay Packers. 34 of those yards came on a drive with a short field thanks to an interception from Rudy Ford. Dillon was the bell cow of that drive and looked like the old AJ Dillon. The stats won’t pop out, but he had an encouraging game last night and he needed it.
Green Bay Packers Stud: Rudy Ford
I thought Rudy Ford had a nice game for the second straight week. Last night, Ford had nine tackles and a pass defended. Ford also picked off Jimmy Garoppolo in the third quarter that changed the momentum of the game. Ford did a great job under-cutting Garoppolo’s throw and timed it perfectly. The interception resulted in a touchdown by AJ Dillon.
Safety was looked at as the most glaring hole on this roster before the season started. However, Ford has played pretty well and is looking like the clear top safety on this team. His play over the last two weeks has been encouraging.
The one bad play from Ford was when he was lined up 10 yards off the line of scrimmage and had his feet on the goal line. It was an easy throw from Garoppolo to Jakobi Meyers for a touchdown. I blame defensive coordinator Joe Barry for that and not Ford.
Green Bay Packers Stud: Preston Smith
Preston Smith hasn’t shown out much this year, but he’s been pretty consistent on the edge. Last night I thought was the same story. Smith also recorded two QB hits, one sack, and a tackle for loss. Again, the tackles won’t show up, but he’s been a constant rock on this defense.

Smith was also the talk of a play last night when he was lined up against Davante Adams in the slot. Again, I don’t blame Smith. That is just bad coaching from Joe Barry. There is no reason to even allow that line up to happen.
Green Bay Packers Dud: Jordan Love
This was easily the worst performance from Jordan Love in his young carer. It was going to happen, but this was a pretty bad Raiders defense. Not all the blame goes on him, however. Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby was in his face all night. That falls in his offensive line.

Love made one of the worst throws you will see an NFL quarterback make. There is not reason to throw that ball and I’m not sure what Love was even looking at.
On the last drive, he was on the bad end of back to back drops from Romeo Doubs and Luke Musgrave. His last throw of the night was under-thrown pretty bad to Christian Watson. Accuracy and the throwing the ball down the field continues to be a problem for Jordan Love.
Green Bay Packers Dud: Matt LaFleur
A majority of this loss falls on the Green Bay Packers head coach. This is two weeks in a row Matt LaFleur has not had his offense ready to play, The play calling in the first half continues to be horrendous and his inability to make in game adjustments continues to be head scratching.
LaFleur has to get this right during the bye week and the rest of the way. It’s young team who will make mistakes. That’s not the issue, When you have a young team, you have to have the better coach. Right now, he’s not a very good head coach.
Green Bay Packers Dud: The Offensive Line
One of the biggest mistakes the front office made this summer was not drafting any offensive linemen. The Green Bay Packers front office felt they had enough depth and talent to make it work. Last night showed the offensive line might be one of the worst units on this roster.
Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom were beat bad by Maxx Crosby all night. Credit to Crosby though. He’s a very good pass rusher. Those two could not keep Jordan Love in the pocket. It’s been an under-whelming performance from the entire offensive line and not just one player.
