Last July the Milwaukee Brewers drafted Jurrangelo Cijntje in the 18th round of the MLB draft. At just 19 years old, he made headlines as a switch pitcher. Yes, he throws with both his right and left hand depending upon the match up at the plate. Unfortunately, the Brewers were unable to sign him and he elected to play college baseball at Mississippi State. Today, he made his debut for the bulldogs.
Cijintje was impressive in his college debut. He threw four innings, allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out seven batters. Six of his strikeouts came as a right-handed pitcher and one as a left-handed pitcher. He was topping out at 97 MPH from the right side and 92 MPH from the left.
Former Brewers draft pick, Jurrangelo Cijntje, was impressive in his college debut as a switch pitcher.
Al 7 of Jurrangelo Cijntje’s strikeouts. 6 as a right handed pitcher, one as a lefty. Brewers drafted the “switch pitcher” in the 18th round last year but he didn’t sign and elected to play college ball at Mississippi State

Cijnte’s draft stock will likely be much higher than the 18th round by the time he enters the MLB draft again. Depending upon how far he rises, it’s possible that the Brewers could select him again once he is eligible. For now, all we can do is wait and see how he performs at Mississippi State.
