Overview
In 2021, Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff, and Freddy Peralta dominated solidifying themselves as one of the best starting pitcher trio’s in Major League Baseball. They were must-haves in fantasy baseball last season and as a result have been high draft picks in this year’s fantasy drafts.

So far this season, their first starts have been below expectations. What can we expect for the rest of the season? In this slightly belated preview, I will review fantasy statistics as well as expectations and predictions for the 2022 campaign following three losses to the Chicago Cubs.
Corbin Burnes
Also known as “CY Burnes” after winning the first CY Young award of his career last season, Corbin looks to take the league by storm once more this season. He is being drafted in the top three starting pitchers off the board this season. This means he is typically ahead of other superstar pitchers named Gerrit Cole and Max Scherzer.
Burnes is known for his nasty stuff, strikeouts, and low ERA. This gives him a major edge above all starting options. Even though he only produced seven fantasy points in his opening day start, this should not be a concern as without a doubt he will finish top 10 in his position in all formats.

Brandon Woodruff
As the 4th-6th starter off the board, Brandon Woodruff has an ADP a little too high, but that’s not to mean he won’t be a valuable producer. He is most definitely worth a late second-round pick but an early second is a bit too high. In his season debut, Woody allowed seven earned runs which is not like him at all. It is easy to say this won’t happen consistently. Hopefully, he is just settling in and off to a slow start like the rest of the Brew Crew. I traded for Woodruff on a discount in a shallow ROTO league knowing he will bounce back to his normal self.

Freddy Peralta
After career bests last year in ERA, wins, strikeouts, appearances, WHIP, and innings pitched, strikeout Freddy is on pace for an outstanding career and he is just 24 years old. Last year, he was one of the most reliable pitchers in fantasy baseball for the first half of the season. At his current ADP as the 16th starting pitcher off the board, Peralta will contribute to your team. Some mild regression is likely later on, but it is too early to tell how his season will play out. Freddy did take the loss in the series finale to Chicago during his first start of the 2022 campaign.
