Former Wisconsin Badgers star tight end Jake Ferguson kept his foot on the gas in the Dallas Cowboys’ Week 2 matchup against an Aaron Rodgers-less New York Jets side. After leading his team with seven targets in their Week 1 40-0 blowout win against the New York Giants, Ferguson kept it going on Sunday by scoring his first touchdown of the season in Dallas’ first drive of the game.
Former Wisconsin Badgers TE Scores First TD of Season for Dallas Cowboys

It looks like the Cowboys drew up a play especially for Ferguson in what turned out to be the final snap of their opening drive against the Jets. The former Badgers star caught a perfect Dak Prescott pass to score a four-yard touchdown and give Dallas a 6-0 lead early in the game.

It was an impressive drive from the Cowboys, which saw them march down the field for 75 yards on 12 plays. A couple of highlights on the opening drive were CeeDee Lamb’s 25-yard catch, a third-down scramble by Prescott, and of course, Ferguson’s touchdown on 3rd and goal.
As of writing, Dallas leads the game 30-10 with a little over three minutes in the contest and it’s looking like they are going to make it two out of two against both New York teams in their first two games of the new season.
Big Year Ahead for Jake Ferguson?

Ferguson had a pretty solid outing in his season debut for Dallas last week. While he caught just two out of his game-high seven targets in the contest for 11 yards, it was still a very encouraging performance for the 24-year-old against a formidable Giants defense. Prescott threw only 24 passes in their massive win over the Giants and the fact that Ferguson accounted for nearly a third of them is a clear indication that this young man will figure significantly in the Cowboys’ offense this season.

Jake Ferguson will want to keep it rolling in Week 3 when the Cowboys take on the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday.
