As Green Bay Packers fans wait for the official trade of Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, we look ahead to the 2023 season without him. The Packers have apparent holes to fill on both sides of the ball, most likely with rookies and unproven players. The elephant in the room is Jordan Love at starting quarterback and what he can do. Nevertheless, the Green Bay Packers will take 2023 with no expectations and evaluate the young players, and fans should have no expectations going into 2023. Fans need to take a deep breath and R-E-L-A-X.
Offense

Jordan Love will be the starting QB for 2023. Whether fans like it or not, they must deal with it. Love has minimal regular-season snaps and has shown flashes. The Pack will also take the time to evaluate the very young Wide Receiver room. As this article is published, the Packers have not signed any veteran receivers. After Allen Lazard signed with the Jets and Randell Cobb explored free agency, Christian Watson looks to be the WR1 in only his second year. Romeo Doubs looks to take a big step and be that top guy on the team. Tight End and Tackle are also two other positions we could see a young player start. Both positions are significant needs as we head into the draft. Overall, we will see how Matt LaFleur’s offense is genuinely run and not Aaron Rodgers putting his twist on things that sometimes made fans scratch their heads.
Defense

Heading into the 2022 season, Joe Barry’s defense was projected to be one of the best. Well, that did not happen. In the last couple of games of the season, we saw the defense we all expected to see, but that was not enough to make the playoffs. Safety, Edge, and possible Cornerback are two needs that Green and Gold have going into the draft. Adrian Amos has not resigned from the team, and Darnell Savage has struggled in the past, so we could see an unproven player starting Week One. Packers did sign Safety Tarvarius Moore to battle for a spot during training camp. On the Edge, the Packers lost Rashan Gary to a season-ending ACL injury, and he might not be ready for Week One. Justin Hollins resigned this year as depth for the position. Kingsley Enagbare showed flashes on the Edge, taking over for Gary. The Packers will look over the defensive players and if Joe Barry can be the coordinator to get the best out of this promising defense.
