The 2021 Wisconsin football recruiting class is the highest-rated class for the Badgers since these classes have been rated on the internet. The first committed player of the class, Deacon Pe’a Hill, is a big reason why.
According to 247Sports, Hill is a 3-star quarterback and is the 20th rated pro-style quarterback in the country. He is from Santa Barabara, California, and grew up a huge UCLA fan. Wisconsin offered him a scholarship well over a year ago, and Hill took the offer and committed to the Badgers in June of 2019.

Recruiting for Wisconsin
Ever since his commitment to Wisconsin, Hill has been a constant in recruiting his peers to join him in Madison in 2021. He was one of the founders of the infamous text group, that constantly recruiting other players to the Badgers. Some notable members of this text group are Hill, TJ Bollers, Hunter Wohler, and Daryl Peterson. This group did an awesome job of staying in the ears of a lot of recruits like Nolan Rucci, who was a big-time commitment for Wisconsin.
As I mentioned earlier, Hill grew up a huge UCLA fan. He has a family history with UCLA as well. His sisters played water polo for the Bruins, but they didn’t offer him by the time he committed with Wisconsin.
Almost a year after he committed to Wisconsin, UCLA offered Hill a scholarship in hopes of flipping him in July of 2020.
I think a lot of Badger fans were a little concerned that he might take the opportunity to go to his dream school and flip to UCLA. That would leave Wisconsin without a quarterback in their 2021 class.
247Sports’ Tracy Pierson recently published an article saying Hill will remain solid to his commitment to Wisconsin. He explains that UCLA chose to pursue Miller Moss, a 4-star quarterback who eventually committed to USC instead. After they missed on Moss, they turned their attention to Hill and attempted to flip him from Wisconsin.
After the article came out, Hill took to Twitter to explain he wanted to create his own legacy.

Conclusion
Overall, I think it’s safe to say Hill’s commitment to Wisconsin is solid and he’s not going anywhere. Through his efforts in helping recruit this 2021 class and the loyalty he’s shown the Badgers, I’d say Wisconsin is getting a very good quarterback and an even better leader in Deacon Pe’a Hill.
