Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has his eyes on the big prize and the journey of that will start in the NFC Wild Card Round against the Green Bay Packers. Dallas won the NFC East title with a 12-5 record and they easily defeated the Washington Commanders 38-10 this past Sunday.
A lot of players were wearing their NFC East Championship Hats and t-shirts and Dak Prescott was not one of those players. His eyes were on the bigger prize, a Super Bowl title since he hasn’t won the big game before and also has won the NFC East title before as a player.
Prescott responded at his press conference on Sunday as to why he didn’t wear that hat or t-shirt. He told the media after the game against the Commanders by saying:
“I want something better.”
Dallas has not been to the NFC Championship Game since 1995 and that was when they faced the Green Bay Packers. They won Super Bowl XXX against the Pittsburgh Steelers that year and have not won a Super Bowl or been to the NFC Championship Game since.
This year, Dak Prescott was one of three Pro Bowl quarterbacks in the NFC. He completed 65.9% of his passes for 4,516 yards passing, 36 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Prescott also rushed for 242 yards on 55 carries and two touchdowns, along with averaging 4.4 yards per carry.
This is the Second Time Dak Prescott Will Face the Green Bay Packers in the Playoffs
The last time Prescott faced the Packers in the playoffs was back on January 15, 2017. Dallas finished the season with a 13-3 record and the number one seed in the NFC. They lost 34-31 to Green Bay on a last-second field goal by Mason Crosby.
Dak Prescott completed 24-of-38 passes for 302 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He also rushed for 13 yards on two carries and averaged 6.5 yards in that game. Prescott was a rookie that season and Tony Romo was his backup quarterback. Romo’s injury in the preseason that year led to Dak Prescott being the starting quarterback.
This time around, he will want a different result against the Packers. If Green Bay upsets them, there will be a lot of questions about Prescott. He wants to be the one hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, Nevada at Allegiant Stadium on February 11.
