The Packers stayed alive in the playoff hunt by beating the Miami Dolphins 26-20. One concern coming out of the game is the injuries that happened during the game. A big one was to standout rookie wide receiver Christian Watson. In the third quarter, the team announced that Watson was out for the game with a hip injury. After the game, Christian Watson gave an update on his injury.
Christian Watson Gives Update On Injury
Watson talked to Ryan Wood of USA Today and simply said, “I’ll be all right.” While I’m sure there will be more medical tests, Watson’s initial take is that this injury is not a long-term concern. The Packers will need him if they are going to win the next two games. Watson’s speed opens up opportunities for others on defense. The offense lacked explosiveness once he went out. While they still won the game, the offense definitely looked different.
Other Injuries
Keisean Nixon and Yosh Nijman also went out with injuries in this game. Nixon had a huge return and Packers fans got to witness a kicker avoiding a Green Bay returner. However, he went out as well and did not return to the game. Nijman went out in the first half and did not return either. With David Bakhtiari still recovering, Nijman has been a key piece to the line. These will be injuries to watch for updates this week.
The Christian Watson injury does not seem serious. This is good news as the Packers have a tough test against Minnesota next week. They need to keep winning if they are going to get back to the postseason.
