If you’re a fan of the NBA and the Milwaukee Bucks, you probably know the name Dillon Brooks. Brooks is 27 years old and has spent his entire career with the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis mentioned earlier in the offseason that they would not bring Brooks back. Part of it has to do with the multiple suspensions and trash-talking LeBron James and being unable to back it up in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. It’s been mentioned that Milwaukee is showing interest in Brooks.
Why Show Interest
Based on what I mentioned above, why would Milwaukee want to be interested in a player like Brooks? He can be a headache as an opponent and clearly his own team was tired of the antics. While Brooks did jaw at LeBron and was embarrassed after it, Brooks did play 30 minutes a game last season and averaged 14.3 points a game. He’s a career 14.5 points a game player and a 79% free throw shooter. He’s also a solid defender and is not afraid to be tough and set the tone.
According to Marc Stein, Brooks is also seeking for a deal worth over $12 million a year. The Bucks would likely have to let some players walk to get Brooks.
I personally am not sure how I feel about it. I do agree he would bring that tough mindset and energy on the defensive side. You can never have too many players with that mentality. At the same time, he’s been a constant headache with fines and suspensions. The fact Memphis mentioned they wouldn’t bring him back any under circumstances is and should be concerning. I also have to think a veteran team like the Bucks and players like Giannis and Jrue Holiday would not tolerate it. Either way, it sounds like Brooks might to eat some humble pie wherever he ends up.
