The Wisconsin Badgers will keep a key part of the defense
The Wisconsin Badgers have improved their stock for the fall over the past month. New head coach Luke Fickell inherited a recruiting class that had shrunk into the single digits in December. His class improved dramatically, not only for the freshman class next season, but the Badgers wound up having a Top 25 transfer class. The Badgers received more good news for the roster Thursday.
According to C.J. Goetz’s Twitter page, the outside linebacker has announced his intention to play for the Badgers next season.

Goetz, a three-star linebacker for the 2018 freshman class, will enter his sixth season with the Badgers. Goetz had his best season for Wisconsin in 2022. He finished with 62 total tackles and two sacks. His 62 tackles placed him third on the defense with the most tackles behind linebackers Jordan Turner (64) and Maema Njongmeta (95).
This is a huge player for new defensive coordinator Mike Tressell to retain for next season. Goetz’s veteran presence should help the Badgers transition to Tresell’s system.
