Sunday, August 14th couldn’t have started off much better for the Green Bay Packers on the injury front. Three players have been activated off the PUP list. The Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list is a designation for players who are returning from injury. Being activated off this list at this point in the season leaves open the possibility to start week one. Otherwise they would not have been able to play until week four.
The Three Players Activated off the PUP list:
Elgton Jenkins, Robert Tonyan, and Christian Watson are coming off the PUP list per Matt Lafleur.
It’s the next step in the process, it’s not like they’re going to be out there in team drills. Matt Lafleur added that it allows them to do walk-throughs.
This is a huge benefit for Christian Watson. Matt Lafleur also mentioned how remarkable it is where Elgton Jenkins is at in his recovery. Jenkins’ surgery was sometime in late November 2021, so it has been approximately nine months for his recovery. Outstanding, especially for a big man.
What does this mean?
The Packers front office has to believe that all three of these players will be ready to go within the first month of the season. Otherwise there would have been no reason to activate them off the PUP list. The likelihood of at least one of them being available week one vs the Minnesota Vikings is not something the Matt Lafleur would rule out.
