As Flood mentioned, Burkett will be enrolling early for Wisconsin. He plans to come enroll to Wisconsin January 2022. This is the first QB in the 2022 class to commit to Wisconsin. Burkett stated: “I knew if I ever got an offer from Wisconsin, I was going to take it”.
Burkett is a 6’2 205 pound junior from Franklin, Wisconsin. He is the first Wisconsin-born QB to commit to Wisconsin on a full ride since Tyler Donovan in 2003. Donovan was from Hartland, WI and attended Arrowhead High School.
The dual-threat QB also had offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Central Michigan. He also was getting interest from Michigan, Washington, Iowa, and Iowa State. In his junior year at Franklin, Burkett passed for 1,236 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. He also ran for 207 yards and a touchdown. He led the Franklin Sabres to a 5-1 record this year.
It’s really important to have a QB in your recruiting class every season. I was hoping the Badgers would offer Burkett. The other two quarterbacks Wisconsin offered previously had committed to other schools. I am excited to see a Wisconisn-born QB on the Badger roster!
