The Detroit Lions are not done when it comes to free agency. Today they reportedly added to their pass catchers by signing veteran wide receiver Devin Funchess.

Devin Funchess a TE?
What made this signing even more interesting was that they converted Funchess to a tight end. Much like Kelvin Benjamin before him, former Packers WR Devin Funchess is now trying to salvage his career with a new team and a new position.
The Packers released Devin Funchess with an injury settlement in August 2021. It came two days after they placed him on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury in a joint practice with the Jets.
Funchess was unable to return to the field with a different team in 2021. It was the third straight lost season for the 6-foot-4 receiver who saw his promising time with Indianapolis end due to a broken collarbone in 2019. He signed with Green Bay before opting out of the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will see how he fairs in Detroit with Jared Goff and company.
