Last night, Daniel Vogelbach suffered a significant hamstring strain as he rounded the bases to score on an Omar Narvaez single. For some reason, the Diamondbacks made no attempt to throw him out at home, even though they were losing and had plenty of time.

As a result of the injury, the Brewers have placed Vogelbach on the 10-day IL. In a corresponding move, they have recalled Keston Hiura from Triple-A Nashville.

No Other Real Options
With Travis Shaw on the 60-day IL, there were really no other in-house options for the Brewers at first base. Jace Peterson has spent some time at first, but is not an ideal fit as an everyday player. Hernan Perez is down in Nashville and, of course, has played all over the diamond. However, he, too, is not an ideal option as an everyday player on the Major League level at this point in his career.
The Brewers may still look to add first base depth before the trading deadline, but there have not been any talks made public as of yet.
Trey Mancini
Carlos Santana
CJ Cron
Jesús Aguilar
Rhys Hoskins
Jared WalshThat is a list of very good 1st baseman that are currently playing for sub .500 teams.
No indication if any of them would be available, but that's a list to monitor for Milwaukee.
They need a 1B.

Vogelbach and Hiura By the Numbers
Daniel Vogelbach is having a less-than impressive season, hitting .216/.323/.386 with seven home runs and 16 RBI. It should be noted, however, that four of his seven home runs have come in the month of June. This injury ocurred at the worst time for Vogelbach, just as he was in the midst of a hot streak.
Keston Hiura, on the other hand, has been ever worse on the Major League level. He is hitting just .130/.217/.222 with one home run and nine RBI. He has been raking, though, at Triple-A. In two separate stints with Triple-A Nashville, Hiura is hitting .403/.506/.722 with five home runs and 14 RBI.
The Brewers would have liked Hiura to stay down in Nashville for a while longer. However, with Vogelbach hurt, the team had no other choice.
