Four Wisconsin Badger Women’s volleyball players earned 2023 preseason All-B1G honors entering this season.  The four players for Wisconsin was the most by any conference team followed by Minnesota with three.  Wisconsin was also selected to finish first in the conference with 13 first place votes.  The Badger Women’s volleyball team has won four straight B1G titles and with a solid core returning, the team will look to make it five straight.

    Wisconsin’s Preseason All-B1G Selections

Wisconsin Badger Women’s Volleyball team isn’t a stranger to having players selected for the All-B1G list but this group is a bit different than years past.  Two of this years selections weren’t on the Badger’s roster last year, instead, they played for conference opponents.  Even though the Badger Women’s Volleyball team was selected to finish first in conference, none of the players selected for All-B1G were unanimous.

Returning Badgers Selected to Preseason All-B1G

    • Sarah Franklin – 6-4 Outside Hitter

    • Sarah Franklin led the Wisconsin Badger Women’s Volleyball team offensively last season.  Franklin accumulated 400 kills in total during conference games good for 3.51/set and seventh in all of the B1G.  Additionally, Franklin ranked eighth in the B1G for points, averaging 3.91 points per set.  The redshirt junior will look to take another step forward after a successful 2022 season.

Devyn Robinson – 6-2 Right Side Hitter

Devyn Robinson is the emotional leader to the Wisconsin Badger Women’s Volleyball team.  Her speed, power and energy are attributes her teammates can feed off from, especially in high profile games.  Robinson finished second on the team last year in kills, only behind Franklin.  The two returning players from last year will once again look to lead the offensive attack in 2023.

Transfer Portal Badger Selected to Preseason All-B1G

Carter Booth – 6-7 Middle Blocker

Carter Booth was a big time addition in the transfer portal.  Booth transferred from Minnesota after just one season.  As a freshman, Booth earned First-Team All Big Ten and All Big Ten Freshman honors.  She finished fifth in conference last year in blocks per set with 1.48 while recent Wisconsin alum, Danielle Hart was fourth on that list.  Booth will look to step into Hart’s shoes from the jump.

    Temi Thomas-Ailara – 6-2 Outside Hitter

Temi Thomas-Ailara is a grad transfer from Northwestern University.  Thomas-Ailara has an impressive resume at this point in her career. She earned All-Big Ten First-Team honors the last three seasons.  In 2022, Thomas-Ailara finished second during conference play in kills per set.  She averaged 4.33 kills/set while the top spot, Taylor Landfair from Minnesota averaged 4.35 kills/set.  The addition of Thomas-Ailara brings another offensive weapon for head coach Kelley Sheffield.
