Avisail Garcia 2

2020 was such a strange year for everybody in Major League Baseball. It is often said that MLB players feed off of the crowd’s energy. That was in full display throughout last season as numerous players around the league had the worst year of their careers. One of those players was newly signed Brewers outfielder Avisaíl García. Granted, the Brewers only played 60 games last season, so it wasn’t much of a sample size. Should we be concerned with how Avisaíl García played last year? Let’s take an in depth look at what we can expect from the Brewers starting…

HOUSTON, TX - DECEMBER 16: Giannis Antetokounmpo #34 of the Milwaukee Bucks drives to the basket defended by James Harden #13 of the Houston Rockets in the first half at Toyota Center on December 16, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Down a point in the dying seconds against the Phoenix Suns, Giannis took what is perhaps one of the most polarizing shots in modern basketball: a relatively contested mid-range jumper from the free-throw line. Put simply, it wasn’t the best shot to take for a player shooting 30.3% on shots taken 10-16 feet from the basket. If winning is the goal, teams should want the shot that has the biggest chance of hitting its mark. Given the circumstances, though, it’s also easy to see why it might have been the right shot to take at the time despite being wildly…

Wisconsin Badgers

The Wisconsin Badgers fell have lost consecutive games for the first time this season. They were defeated at home by the Iowa Hawkeyes, 77-62. Lately, the Badgers have just not been playing well, causing them to lose their games. On Thursday night, that wasn’t necessarily the case. Yes, they started off cold again. They started the game off shooting just 4-27 from the field. Not necessarily a recipe for success. They were able to stay within striking distance of the Hawkeyes, despite their All-American, Luka Garza, dropping 17 points on them in the first half alone. Just before the half,…

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK- JANUARY 27: Giannis Antetokounmpo #34 of the Milwaukee Bucks handles the ball against the Oklahoma City Thunder on January 27, 2019 at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The last time Milwaukee faced Oklahoma, the Bucks put on what could have been their worst showing of the season. Against a team missing two key players, Milwaukee looked sluggish and uncoordinated on defense, and unpurposeful on the other end. Their bad habits reared their heads again, and the Bucks gave up 15-of-36 (41.7%) on three-pointers. During tense moments down the clutch, their offense stagnated, and hero ball took over. That loss capped off what was a largely disappointing West Coast road trip that also saw the Bucks absorb losses to the Suns and the Jazz. In their games back…

As Spring Training is starting to get underway and the regular season is approaching, many are wondering about the stadium capacity for American Family Field. On the other side of town, the Bucks have approval to fill 10 percent of the Fiserv Forum. What about the Brewers, though? The latest report, according to Brewers beat writer Adam McCalvy, says the organization submitted a proposal for 35 percent capacity at American Family Field.  https://twitter.com/AdamMcCalvy/status/1362538464030445569?s=20 Importantly, if the proposal is approved there will be between 14,500-16,000 fans allowed in each home game. Because of the drastic size of the stadium, there…

Two words, Brewers fans. Go Go. That is the nickname of former Brewers fan favorite and one of my favorites, Carlos Gomez. In his career, Gomez spent time with the New York Mets, Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, and the Tampa Bay Rays.  Although he was never considered a superstar player, his amazing personality quickly made him a fan favorite. Let’s take a look back at his outstanding career.  Minor Leagues At the young age of just 16 years old, Carlos Gomez signed with the Mets as an international free agent. He quickly became one of their…

What goes better together than the Milwaukee Brewers and depth signings?  A report came out on Sunday night that the team signed former All-Star, Brad Boxberger. Salt Lake City’s winning history against the Milwaukee Bucks continues in a putrid affair that saw the latter down by as much as 21 points. For most of the game, it felt like nothing was going right for Milwaukee. Four Jazz players scored at least 25 in a balanced effort enroute to their latest victory against the Bucks. Here’s a quick breakdown of what went wrong for the Bucks. Defense Wins Championships—and Against MVPs, Apparently The game started out slow as both teams struggled to get into an offensive flow. But it was defense that turned out to be the…

Bryn Forbes

With defensive hound Jrue Holiday out due to coronavirus protocols, Mike Budenholzer made the unlikely decision to plug in sharpshooting guard Bryn Forbes into the Bucks starting lineup.  It’s by no means a substantial sample size, but two games in, the early returns have been promising to say the least. In that span, Forbes went 8-of-14 (57%) from three and scored 15 and 17. Through 24 games, he’s shown off the offensive talent that has allowed him to carve out a place in the league despite going undrafted in 2016.  Here’s our case for why Bryn Forbes could very well…

There is nothing more exciting in baseball than a homerun. Especially one that is the go-ahead run. Baseball fans alike love the long ball. However, in 2021, there might be fewer this year than in past years. Wednesday morning, The Athletic’s Eno Sarris and Ken Rosenthal broke the news that the MLB is planning on making changes to the baseball. https://twitter.com/enosarris/status/1359204192800280576 Home Runs Galore: A Look at Previous Seasons According to the Baseball Almanac, there were 4909 home runs in 2015.
