New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers released his first statement Wednesday afternoon following the season-ending Achilles injury he suffered on Monday night.
The Jets confirmed the former Green Bay Packers quarterback tore his Achilles following an MRI procedure he had Tuesday morning. It was unclear if Rodgers, who considered retiring this offseason, would battle back through the injury to return to the Jets next season. Rodgers is under contract with the Jets through the 2024 season.

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers releases a statement
Rodgers posted a message on his Instagram account Wednesday afternoon. He’s “heartbroken” and emotional after the Achilles diagnosis. The statement towards the end appears to read that Rodgers intends to play for the Jets next season:
“Thank you to every person that has reached out, called, texted, DM’d, connected through a friend, etc. It has meant a ton to me, and I’ll try and get back to all of you soon 🥹❤️
I’m completely heartbroken and moving through all of the emotions, but deeply touched and humbled by the support and love. 💔Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I begin the healing process today. 🙏 ♾️ ❤️
The night is darkest before the dawn. And I shall rise yet again.
Proud of my guys, 1-0 🛩️ #”
Hopefully, Rodgers will enjoy a speedy recovery.
