It’s an undeniably sad day for the football world. This is after it was confirmed that Aaron Rodgers is done for the year following a season-ending Achilles injury he sustained in his disastrous New York Jets debut. It took only four snaps for the four-time NFL MVP to see what should have been a very promising debut season with the Jets come to a horrendous end.
For their part, Green Bay Packers fans have to be bummed out about this terrible turn of events. Rodgers may have not ended his Green Bay tenure in the best of ways, but there’s no denying that this man brought so much for the entire organization and the city in his 18 years with the team.
The Packers, however, have some added motivation to feel even more appalled by A-Rod’s season-ending and potentially career-threatening injury.
Green Bay Packers’ Aaron Rodgers Trade Package

Green Bay got a major haul from the Jets when they struck a deal this past summer. In exchange for Rodgers, a 2023 first-round pick, and a 2023 fifth-round pick New York sent their 2023 first-rounder, second-rounder, and sixth-rounder to Green Bay. As part of the deal, the Packers also received New York’s 2024 second-round pick.
It’s the last aspect of the aforementioned trade package that has recently garnered a lot of attention. This is because it’s a conditional draft pick. That is, if Rodgers is able to play at least 65% of New York’s snaps this season, that 2024 second-round pick will automatically convert to a first-rounder.
That obviously won’t be the case now. The Packers were hoping that Rodgers would have a productive season in New York this term, at least in terms of his snap count. This clearly won’t be happening anymore with A-Rod’s snaps for the new campaign now coming up to a grand total of just four snaps.
As a result, the conditional pick will remain as a second-rounder for the 2024 NFL Draft. All of Green Bay’s hopes of acquiring another first-round pick for next year’s draft just flew out the window along with Aaron Rodgers’ season.
