Aaron Rodgers may not want to steal the spotlight from the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, but others sure are making certain that his name stays trending. In his most recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers said that he would be more comfortable with making a decision a couple weeks after the Super Bowl. He stated that he did not want to take away from the two teams that are still playing. Well, Tom Brady retired, coaches are on the move, and trade rumors including the four-time MVP quarterback still abound. One of Rodgers’ own former teammates took to Twitter to claim he knows what team the future Hall of Famer will play for next season.
Sam Barrington Claims that Aaron Rodgers Will Play for the Raiders Next Season
As many Packers fans are aware, former Green Bay wide receiver Davante Adams has been using social media in an apparent attempt to lure Rodgers to the Las Vegas Raiders. Indeed, both Rodgers and Adams have enjoyed a bit of trolling in the media as fans and analysts continue to speculate on where the quarterback will play in 2023, if he plays at all.
On Saturday afternoon, Sam Barrington, who played with Rodgers and Adams on the Packers from 2013-2015, took to social media to claim he knows what team will acquire Aaron Rodgers this offseason:
Just spoke with a friend of mine who is very in tuned with Packers/Aaron Rodgers situation.
Aaron will be a @Raiders in 2023
— Sam Barrington (@Sam_Barrington_) February 5, 2023
As mentioned, the Rodgers-to-the-Raiders rumors have been gaining momentum as of late. One current sportsbook has Las Vegas as one of the teams most likely to acquire the Packers quarterback via trade.
Now, how much merit is there to Barrington’s claim? As with all statements regarding Aaron Rodgers, it must be taken for what it is: hearsay. The fact of that matter is that until Rodgers himself commits to playing football in 2023, all talk of a possible trade is just that: talk. This is not to say that Barrington is lying, per say. It is also not to say that there are people out there with more insight into Rodgers’ thoughts than the rest of us. However, when it comes to Aaron Rodgers and his plans, nothing is official until it comes straight from him. He could very likely end up playing for the Raiders. It is also possible that he remains in Green Bay. We simply do not know at this point.
