Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur gave his update on star running back Aaron Jones Thursday afternoon. Jones missed his second practice in a row Thursday as he deals with a hamstring injury he suffered against the Chicago Bears in Week 1.

Jones’ DNP status on Wednesday and Thursday cast doubt on the likelihood he would be available to play in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons. Jones said in an interview following the game Sunday that he felt he could have gone back into the game if the Packers needed him to close out the win over the Bears. His comments made it seem his injury wasn’t too serious.

LaFleur gave a positive spin on Jones missing practice Thursday, as Jones did rehab activities with a helmet on. According to Rob Demovsky with ESPN, LaFleur said Jones being in a helmet was a great sign of his progress:
